As of February 25, 2026, this is the list of the most current road closures in Ellis County.  Crews are out now checking roads, and this list will be updated as reports come in.  If you see high water crossing the road please notify the County Precinct facility, Sheriff’s office, or your local police department.  Stay Safe!  Don’t drown, turn around!

The Ellis County Commissioners' Court will consider and act upon a plat application for Toledo Addition, Lots 14R1 & 14R2, Block A, being a replat of Lot 14, Brushy Creek Addition, Section Two, to create one (1) additional lot for a total of two (2) lots. The ± 10.29-acre site is located ± 595 feet southwest of the intersection of Hunsucker Road and Palmyra Road, in the extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) of the City of Red Oak, Road and Bridge Precinct No. 1. A copy of the replat request is shown below.

This replat will be presented before the Commissioners' Court on Tuesday, March 17th, 2026, at 2:00 PM on the second floor of the historic Ellis County Courthouse, 101 West Main Street, Waxahachie, TX. 75165. The Ellis County Commissioners' Court will consider and act upon a plat application for Summit Estates, Phase 1, Lots 49R & 50R, Block 2, being a replat of Lots 49 & 50, Block 2, Summit Estates, Phase 1, to adjust the property line between Lots 49 & 50, Block 2 of Summit Estates, Phase 1. The ± 3.216-acre site is located southeast of the intersection of Vail Lane and Denali Way, Waxahachie, Road and Bridge Precinct No. 4. A copy of the replat request is shown below.

Counties have been around since before Texas became a state, and even before it was a republic. Under Spanish rule, the land was divided into municipios. When the Republic of Texas formed in 1836, those municipios became the first 23 counties. By the time Texas joined the United States in 1845, the new state comprised 37 counties.

Fast forward to today — 254 counties make up the Lone Star State. In each county, a team of locally elected and appointed county officials serves its community.
